About

I am a structural and earthquake engineer in Kathmandu, Nepal, with a master's in earthquake engineering from the Institute of Engineering, Tribhuvan University. My work runs from earthquake-resistant design and BIM to design automation with the ETABS and Revit APIs, and the tools I build around them: QuakeLive, an NBC compliance checker for ETABS, HydroRecon and WindFlow.

I start from open data and the physics behind it, such as earthquake catalogues and waveforms, river flow and terrain, and building codes. Then I build the tool around them. Where a number is modelled rather than measured, I say so, and I name the source.
